| Thinking about the date for this years 2t gathering......the iom classic finishes at the end of August so we could do either the original traditional 1st weekend in sept 5th 6th or the more recent traditional 2nd weekend 12th 13th..... any preferences...?

| Ok Chaps, the 2 stroke gathering is on as far as Squires are concerned at this moment in time.... Obviously things may change in the future but for now its on. Please feel free to copy this poster to anywhere you like, the more places the merrier. For those who are not familiar with the rally. Its over the weekend but the main day is Saturday. Quite a few people, arrive on Friday and set up their camping gear or motorhome etc then have an evening in the pub. Details of the camping prices can be found on the squires cafe website or by calling them up to book. Saturday morning sees the arrival of the vast majority on 2 wheels. There is no charge to enter the premises and partake in the rally. We set off on a big ride out at 1.30 so be fuelled up and ready, although the first stop is just down the road from a filling station... The destination is Seaways cafe at Fridaythorpe, there are usually 100 or so riders leaving Squires. There is another filling station at Fridaythorpe. We normally hang about there for an hour or two then ride back to Squires. Then those who are staying over get into the pub for a meal and some beer and banter. There are usually more riders arriving on Sunday and there may be another ride out depending on how many riders want to. But the main Saturday riders are usually a bit hung over for another run on Sunday... we play it by ear. There is no marshalling and no maps but plenty of riders know the usual route by now and there are usually one or two bringing up the rear catching anybody who gets lost. The route is as follows Squires cafe, sherburn in elmett, turn left towards lotherton hall, turn right towards towton, after towton turn sharp right towards ulleskelf, rozendyke, ryther and cawood. At cawood turn left over the river and towards stillingfleet, straight on to the A19, turn left and into the layby for the first stop. Then into escrick and head out towards and through wheldrake, then turn left towards elvington, at the t junc turn right towards elvington then left onto dauby lane towards kexby, at the main road turn right and go through kexby, turn left onto long lane towards high catton, go through high catton then onto stamford bridge. At stamford bridge turn right onto the main road A166 then its a fast blast up garrowby hill and onto fridaythorpe. The return run is just about the same with maybe a slight detour through staxton... So nobody needs to get lost. | |
