bought this non runner no v5 feb 2019
Paloma DASL 50498280037_cd7a89635e_b

and a whole rake of money later , home made reed valve conversion, home made expansion pipe (look at the precise routing through hole in frame above stand)and reconditioned crank using new con rod and machining webs to fit a normal metric crank pin and machining cases to fit wider crank webs and so many headaches trying to get a piston/con rod  to fit same comp height , skimmed heads with correct squish angle and hours and hours of polishing the pristine paintwork

and here it is.

cant get any off the shelf sprockets to gear it up, found and fitted a -4 tooth rear but its screaming along at only 41mph gps.

just sussed a kreidler K50 front sprocket will need only a bit of machining to fit and that might see 45/46mph.

i reckon its got the power to do 50mph the way it pulls at 35.

bombing around bedding the rings in atm - 25 miles clocked up and even hitting 35-40 its quite scary being a hard tail. and everyone laughs at me. young kids and early teens look in amazement, laughing and cheering. blokes crane their necks to see what the hell it is. sounds like a dirt bike. im now embarrassed to go out on it.

ive had that much fun on it ive bought something similar but easier to tune this time using off the shelf parts.

see my other resto thread.

gonna do a fly by video and shove it on youtube

Oh, nice one Al... I must admit to having a soft spot for these sorts of MOPED.

Did you say you had polished the paintwork? You missed a bit. Very Happy

I think it's the lack of inertia or substance that does it.. 41 MPH on something without any real weight behind it and all you can see is road (no machine), Eeeek!

These days I even feel vulnerable on the 350 at 60MPH where the 750 still feels sturdy, I only start to get  worried over a 100 when the bars start to shiver and shake.
