Well the Ginger one has now gone and done it too.. looks like we have another excuse to get out on the bikes and leave wifey ogling the TV box.

There's no date been mentioned just yet but "sometime in the Spring", sounds fine to me.

Last time we went East and South, so West seems like it could be next.

There's plenty of time to make some firm plans..

I was thinking more of an Ice cream and a Lake.. but I daresay some Aircraft could be arranged.. Maybe even a Big Wok.. I like there to be something at the destination not just a ride for rides sake..

What was wrong with Trolley buses??

I remember that ride out. I knew one of the bus drivers too Very Happy

Any ride out will be a change from this year. Only did a couple of chippy runs.

I can't understand it at all. I'd've thought angela merkel was far too old for him.

OK then lets start looking at places to go.. Hollingworth Lake or Devils Bridge for instance?  Anybody?

Bit of a trek for us Easties, but what the hell, if we can withstand sub zero..

 Hahahahaa!

Maybe a bit quieter than usual since a load of people will be glued to the box..

OK, some ideas were mooted over the Chips last night, heading South after Denshaw seems favourable instead of North..
On the map there is woodhead pass a well know good road for bikes/scenery but can be busy. you just don't know until you hit it I suppose.

That leaves us several options of returning North towards Hudds or Wakey (or both).

So what do you guys think of:-

First meet point at Redneck. sidle around Wake and Hudds to end up on the A640 New Hey Road to collect the Huddies.
Stop for an IceCream at Buckstones, then over to the Dark Side at Denshaw, South to Stalybridge and Mottram then the Woodhead back to the Light side.

The we can either fork off and go over Holme Moss or go further and return via Crow Edge and Jackson bridge.

(Maybe even stop at the oil Can?)

The Huddies can take their leave or Head back to Wake via Shelpey, Shelley, Emley etc (Depending on Traffic or roads) with the rest.

It's a fair old Trek.. but we have all day (and night).

Thoughts anyone? Before I put it on the Triples Site.

What!!  Artie, at the moment you ARE "the Huddies"..

It'll not be a rideout without you mate, I hope you're going somewhere worthwhile (not Blackpool) or you'll just have to cancel it.

Okidoki Rob, I'm just trying to find somewhere (bikey or even interesting?) to take a break over the dark side.. I might have to ask Bill BBB what there is, he lives in Stalybridge.

I just watched a Helmet cam trip over the pass, I haven't been over there since the 70s and in a car at that.. It looks great if you can get the traffic on your side.

OK then I'll advertise the route, slight variations are always possible at a later date.

Can someone 'Cut n Paste' the following onto The 2Stroke Forum when you have a moment please?
Many thanks. Gra.

OK so the Ginger one has gone and done it this time, that sounds like a(nother) good excuse to get out and have a ride around while 50% of the country is glued to their box. And as a bonus this time round, it's also FA Cup final day to so that's the other 50% stuck inside too. The roads should be empty.

A good time to revive the popular "Not the Royal wedding ride out" then, back by popular demand.

It's a good old romp around Yorkshire and the Pennines then over to the dark side, a fair old Trek for us Easties.

First meet up point for us Easties will be at Redbeck Cafe (Doncaster Road) Wakefield, Skirt around Wake and via Grange moor to Huddersfield and join the A642 New Hey Road then stop at Buck Stones car park to meet up with any Westies

Then over to the dark side at Denshaw and head South to Stalybridge, I'm still looking for somewhere interesting or Bikey to stop for a proper break (There is a big Wok at Joddrell Bank not too far hence). Does anyone know anywhere else over there?

Then we can take the Woodhead pass back to the light side, this is a great road for bikes, especially if it is quiet.

And at the Yorkshire end we can return via Jackson Bridge and Shepley, Shelley and Emley back to Wakefield.

It looks like a fair old trek but we have all day (and night).

Please note this is NOT a Club ride out, just an excuse for us to burn some rubber instead of watching a boring wedding.
As usual, all plans are weather dependent.

So, come on guys, who is fed up with weddings and football already? Come on out, you know you want to.

Interest in the ride is picking up but mostly by phone, Whatsapp, social media and other Forums. Rolling Eyes

I just spoke to BBB Bill at length, a pit stop at Grandpa Greene's in Digley gets his thumb up. Despite the looks they do do coffees and other refreshments although parking is on the lane leading to it.

However Bill recommended the Snake pass then Strines Moor in favour of the Woodhead pass. Slightly further but a much better ride.

I've ridden some of the way on Google erf, and even some of the bits I thought were built up are long straight country roads in parts.. a bit built up around Stalybridge then Glossop, then it's (hilly) countryside again.

I really do hope that weather favours us, I'm reet looing forward to this now.

In fact it's probably time to think about some times?

Start time will dictate the rest so what does the panel think?

09:30-10:00 at Redbeck?
10:00-10:30 at Redbeck?
10:30-11:00 at Redbeck? or
11:00-11:30 at Redbeck?

Earlier or later even?
